Oishii Bento, or “The Yummy Lunchbox,” is a fairly new (mostly) sushi joint in the heart of Oakland. I’ve passed by it many times, but today I finally decided to give it a whirl for a quick before-class dinner.
Oishii Bento is a welcome alternative to many of the hole-in-the-wall eateries in Oakland – no offense to those locales since some of my favorite restaurants are, in fact, holes in the wall, but Oishii Bento doesn’t really fit the stereotype. The store is decorated very brightly and it has clean, modern tables. It is very small inside with seating for only about 10, but definitely comfortable.

This is a unique business plan that I think would be worth looking into for a lot of other restaurants in the area.
I would definitely recommend this place to anyone, really, including tofu connoisseurs because the tofu in my dish was incredible! Much better than some of the tofu I have had from some other restaurants I’ve been to lately. I can’t wait to go back and try some more dishes.
